What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial release is a whole-body, hands-on approach for treatment of the fascia
to eliminate pain and restore motion.
What is Fascia?
A tough, connective tissue, three-dimensional in nature that surrounds all organs,
nerves, blood vessels, every muscle and muscle fiber down to the cellular level.
In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and has the ability to stretch
and move without restriction.
When we experience physical trauma, scarring, or inflammation, however, the fascia
loses its elasticity. It becomes tight, restricted, and a source of tension to the
rest of the body.
The fascia can exert excessive pressure producing pain or restriction of motion,
affect our flexibility and stability, and are a determining factor in our ability
to withstand stress and strain.
Since all of the standard tests such as x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography,
etc., do not show the fascial restrictions, it is thought that an extremely high
percentage of people suffering with pain, headaches and/or lack of motion may be
having fascial problems, but most go undiagnosed.
During a Myofascial Release session you will experience hands-on gentle, therapeutic
body work during which the fascia is manipulated and stretched to relieve the restrictions
and tension. This therapy is an art form and the therapist performing Myofascial
Release can actually feel the body respond to the treatment and can ease any restrictions
that they feel.
All Balls - Self Myofascial Release
Have you ever felt those nasty knots and sore spots throughout your body? Fortunately,
you can eliminate these aches and pains with Self Myofascial Relase Techniques.
It works by applying pressure to those restricted areas with the All Ball. This
pressure massages away restrictions to restore normal soft-tissue extensibility.
In doing so, the pressure improves your “tissue quality”, relieves pain, and improves
motion and flexibility, along with many other benefits.
Ask your Massage Therapist for more details about the All Ball.
